Avren Aldwir | Rook | The Fool
- I'm never going to be normal about how stylish the Inquisition tarot card aesthetic was, nor will I be normal about narrative foils or playing as a Dalish elf with your very own god of lies, treachery, and rebellion in your mind.

Excerpt from Xavier Delory's ‘open space’ series
Brussels-based conceptual photographer and visual artist xavier delory curates ‘open space,’ a series of new perspectives from within a decaying modernist tower. The work sees a reversal of the classic relationship between the ruin and the natural landscape, as seen in flemish landscape painting from the 17th century, where the two exist harmoniously. with the series, the artist references the ‘composed veduta’ by painters from the north which depict ruins of ancient rome surrounded by an arcadian landscape. unlike this style, xavier delory in his series of architectural photography proposes a condition where the landscape no longer welcomes the ruin, but becomes a part of the ruin.
While xavier delory introduces the natural context freely into this brutalist setting, ‘open space’ plays with the relationship between nature, materials, and landscapes. The artist suggests a visual continuity between the building’s derelict interior and the distant ridge line which it frames. with this strategy, the work references methods of early modernism which strive for a spatial continuity between an interior with its surroundings, putting man back at the heart of ‘creation.’

Allegory of Wisdom Fostering the Arts and Sciences
Artist: Gerard de Lairesse (Dutch, 1641-1711)
Date: 1670
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Private collection
Description
The figure of Minerva, goddess of wisdom, is shown seated on a throne above the other figures. Female figures below appear to represent the arts (Painting and Music) and sciences (Astronomy and Mathematics). The two female figures conversing at far right may depict Rhetoric and Poetry, and the figure holding a basket overflowing with flowers and fruit probably personifies Abundance.

“and as we’re entertained the earth will change under our feet.”
a lyric from ‘paper train’ by so long… partner that, within the album, is about post colonialism and queer rights and whatever else those themes may entail but really works with the state of the world now. i watch videos from 10 years ago and think wow, nothing’s changed. i walk outside and think nothing is different. but also, at the same time, when you watch those videos it is VERY different. We are in such a dissonantly seperate time to what we were only a decade ago but people act the same no matter what era you’re in. its a little easier for me to not over distinguish periods as i’m not on social medias, but people tend to fall into nostalgia traps that simply aren’t true past aesthetic contexts. The paths we walk are the same. the colour grading has changed but we watch the same movie, but your mind filters the older stuff so heavily you don’t remember it was more saturated than it really was.

What Canada really needs is senate reform!
Tumblr media
All of the major political parties have scuffed policies when it comes to the senate!
For example, the NDP and Bloc want to abolish it, the Liberals want to appoint liberals disguised as independents to the senate, and the Conservatives want it to be business as usual while they appoint "conservatives" to be senators.
Canada's upper house is based off of the UK's House of Lords but why must we take the bad aspects of it?
Canadian's deserve a senate that is:
Of the people
By the people
For the people
Canada needs an elected senate!
